How PDF to Excel conversion works
OnlyFiles uses LibreOffice on a secure server to analyze your PDF and reconstruct the tabular data as an Excel spreadsheet. Tables, columns, and numeric data are mapped into cells. The conversion works best on PDFs that were originally created from spreadsheets or contain well-structured tables. Scanned PDFs or PDFs where tables are rendered as images will not produce editable cell data — they need OCR processing first.
What to expect from the output
The output is a standard .xlsx file that opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc. Structured tables convert well — you get real cells with editable data. Complex layouts, merged cells, or tables that span multiple pages may not convert perfectly. For best results, use PDFs that were generated digitally (not scanned) and contain clearly defined table structures. Your file is processed on a secure server and deleted immediately after conversion.
When to use this
- Extract financial data from a PDF report into an editable spreadsheet
- Convert a PDF invoice or statement into Excel for accounting
- Pull tabular data from a PDF for analysis in Excel or Google Sheets
