How PDF splitting works
OnlyFiles uses pdf-lib to extract pages from your PDF entirely in your browser. When you upload a PDF, each page is extracted into a new, complete document and packaged together in a ZIP file. All page content — text, images, annotations, and formatting — is preserved exactly. Each extracted PDF is a standard, valid document that works in every PDF reader.
Your files never leave your device
Unlike most online PDF tools that upload your files to a server, OnlyFiles processes everything locally in your browser tab. This makes it safe for confidential contracts, financial statements, medical documents, or anything else you wouldn't want on someone else's server. You can verify by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads — the split still works.
When to use this
- Extract a single page from a multi-page document
- Break a large PDF into chapters or sections
- Pull specific pages from a report for sharing
